TRIBAL GATHERINGS FOR 2010
SPRING GATHERING
March 19-21, 2010
The Spring Gathering is
a time when we celebrate our first ceremony. We will thank the Creator for taking care of us during the winter months
by providing us with food and shelter. We will also thank him for all the blessings he provided for us during the cold
winter time.
We will thank him for the Fire he gave to man so many, many years
ago. We will also talk of the story of the Fire so our young will not forget the stories of our ancestors.
This is also the time we will remember how our
ancestors started their crops of corn, beans, squash and other crops. The ladies will plant seeds in to honor the memory
of our grandmothers.
Hope to see everyone present to celebrate this
great time of worshiping the Creator and of honoring of our ancestors.
SUMMER GATHERING
August 6-8, 2010
Horse Pens 40, Steele, AL
Remember this is the time of the new spiritual year. It is a
time to pray and forgive others and ask the Creator and our friends and enemies to forgive us.
It is also the time we thank the Creator for the great
summer harvest of food we have received.
We will observe the ancestral Green
Corn Feast. The Feast will include the traditional foods of the Cherokee. The Three Sisters of corn, beans, and squash
will be the main focus of the Feast.
If you don't make it to the Summer
Gathering you will miss a great time!
FALL GATHERING
October 1-3, 2010
Horse Pens 40, Steele
AL
This is the time to remember the creation
of all living things. This is our physical new year. It is also the time to thank God for our blessings and the
harvest of our food. It is also a time to ask the Creator to take care of us through the winter months.
This is also the time to re-tell the Cherokee Story
of Creation so the young will remember the story and they will pass it down to their children's children.
HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE GATHERING.
